Friday, February 21, 2025 - National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetangula is facing public backlash after a shocking mistake in his tribute to the late father of Senate Speaker Amason Kingi.
On Friday morning, Wetangula posted a heartfelt message on
X, mourning Mzee Kingi during his burial in Kamale Village, Kilifi County.
However, in a major blunder, he attached a photo of former IEBC Chairman Wafula
Chebukati (who passed away on Friday morning) - as Kingi’s late father.
Although the post was swiftly deleted, netizens had already
taken screenshots, sparking widespread ridicule.
This embarrassment comes hours after Foreign Affairs PS
Korir Sing’oei landed in trouble for sharing an AI-generated deepfake of CNN
journalist Fareed Zakaria praising President Ruto’s role in Sudan peace
diplomacy.
After facing a backlash, Sing’oei deleted the video and
apologized.
With high-profile blunders stacking up, critics are
questioning the level of care in government communication.
