Wednesday, February 12, 2025 - Parliament descended into chaos yesterday after Mumias East MP, Peter Salasya, went live on TikTok, mocking a heated debate over the rightful Majority and Minority in the National Assembly.
The young legislator, strategically seated in a corner where
Speaker Moses Wetangula couldn't see him, provided a running commentary filled
with cheeky remarks.
In the now-viral video, Salasya can be heard saying, “Hapa
mambo imechemka, hatutaki mchezo. We want to show Ichung’wa! Nimekaa kwa corner
nikipiga nduru, kazi yangu ni kupiga kelele. Leo Ichung’wah anakwenda huko,
ametusumbua sana huyu mtu!”
His antics followed Junet Mohamed’s claim to the Majority
Leader’s seat after a court ruling invalidated Wetangula’s initial decision
favoring Kenya Kwanza.
Former Majority Leader Kimani Ichung’wah, clearly
unimpressed, reported the stunt to the Speaker
“The House provides live coverage; we cannot belittle this
institution with such uncouth behavior. He must delete the footage and
apologize.” Ichung’wah said and demanded disciplinary action,
lamenting the MP’s “unpalatable” remarks.
