Notorious KALENJIN man, who has been vandalizing KPLC transformers in Sotik area and its environs, caught red handed by the police (PHOTO)



Friday, January 21, 2025 - Police Officers based at Kapletundo Police Station have arrested Hassan Kipkurui Rotich, a notorious suspect linked to vandalism of Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) transformers in Sotik area and its environs.

Acting on a tip-off regarding an ongoing vandalism of a KPLC transformer, officers responded swiftly and caught Rotich red-handed.

Upon interrogation, he further revealed locations of two additional transformers that he and an accomplice, Collins Kibet, who remains at large had previously vandalized, rendering them nonfunctional in Chepkosa and Cheptigit villages.

The suspect, alongside recovered exhibits, was escorted to Kapletundo Police Station, where he is currently undergoing processing pending arraignment. Meanwhile, the search is on to apprehend his accomplice and bring him to book.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is urging the public to refrain from vandalizing vital installations, as such destructive behaviour will be met with the full force of the law.
