2025 - Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen has thrown his weight
behind Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, urging Kenyans to support him for
future leadership.
Speaking at a public event in Meru, Murkomen dismissed
concerns that Kindiki’s political prospects are limited by the size of his
ethnic community, emphasizing that leadership should transcend tribal lines.
“Jesus Christ was born to a carpenter, and many dismissed
him as insignificant.”
“The challenges facing the Meru people are the same as those
affecting other Kenyans.”
“Why should anyone spread lies to turn people against the Government?”
“Let’s stand together and allow Deputy President Kindiki and
President William Ruto to fulfill their promises,” Murkomen stated.
He credited Kindiki’s rise to the efforts of Meru elders,
particularly veteran politician Kiraitu Murungi.
“Kindiki is reaping the seeds planted by your elders.”
“Those efforts are now bearing fruit. It is possible for him
to lead this country if we move away from tribal politics,” he added.
Murkomen also highlighted his personal connection with
Kindiki, recalling their time at university when Kindiki was his lecturer.
“I worked with Kindiki as a Senator. He is God-fearing,
hardworking, and focused. He cannot be swayed into sideshows of fighting the
President.”
Addressing claims by Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua that
the Government seeks to remove Chief Justice Martha Koome, Murkomen dismissed
the allegations.
“The government will not interfere with the Judiciary.”
“I will personally ensure Chief Justice Koome’s security and
success in office. Do not fall for propaganda,” he affirmed.
