EACC’s statement on corrupt traffic police officers arrested at Globe Cinema Roundabout - They had collected Ksh 48, 250 in 2 hours



Friday, February 14, 2025 - Following numerous complaints from motorists, bodaboda riders and the general public regarding traffic Police Officers extorting money from motorists at Globe Cinema roundabout in the guise of traffic law enforcement, the Commission conducted investigations on several days and confirmed the allegations.

Consequently, on Wednesday, 12th February, 2025, the Commission mounted an operation at the roundabout and arrested three police officers from the Central Police Station who had collected bribes amounting to Ksh 48, 250 in 2 hours from 6:30am.

The arrested officers are: 1. No. 84220 Cpl Oscar Serem Biwott; 2. No. 89197 PC Simon Kiplagat Nyunyutik; and 3. No. 82069 PC Edwin Benedict Mubweka.


The suspects were escorted to EACC Integrity Centre where they recorded statements.

They were later booked at Kilimani Police Station. As part of the strategic initiatives to address traffic corruption, the Commission has partnered with the National Police Service (NPS) to undertake a comprehensive audit of the systems and practices of work of the National Police Service (NPS) to identify and seal weaknesses conducive to corruption in Kenya's police operations.
