Friday, February 2, 2024 – Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Manqoba Mngqithi, is said to be keen on joining Kaizer Chiefs!
Mngqithi
currently has two PSL sides interested in his services – Chiefs and AmaZulu.
His first choice is Amakhosi and that means he is not open
to joining the Soweto giants at the end of the season.
The Brazilians assistant and former co-coach would prefer to
join Chiefs.
“The Kaizer Chiefs job is one that appeals to him more but
don’t be surprised if AmaZulu come calling again if things don’t go according
to plan with their current coach at the end of the season,” the report
read
Moreover, his contract is set to expire at the end of the
season.
Interestingly, this is when Amakhosi is expected to appoint
a new coach on a long-term deal. Meanwhile, Cavin Johnson has been informed
that he will remain interim coach until the end of the season. This opens the
door to the prospect of Mngqithi joining Chiefs.
Amakhosi were heavily linked with Mngqithi last season.
They instead opted for Molefi Ntseki with Mngqithi honoring
his Sundowns contract which still had 1 year left. However, come the end of the
season, he will be a free agent.
Furthermore, Amakhosi has reportedly renewed interest in
Ntseki too.
“Kaizer
Chiefs have also shown interest in Mngqithi whose contract ends later this
year,” an insider revealed.
