Sunday, October 11, 2026 -A woman and three children have been killed in shelling in Sudan’s South Kordofan region, according to a medical group, highlighting the devastating toll of the country’s ongoing conflict on civilians.
The reported deaths raise fresh concerns about the safety of families caught in fighting between Sudan’s warring forces and armed groups operating alongside them. With children among the reported victims, the incident underscores the urgent need to protect civilian communities and prevent further loss of innocent lives.
The attack was reported in Kadugli, the capital of South Kordofan, where residents are already facing serious security threats and deteriorating humanitarian conditions. The Sudan Doctors Network blamed the shelling on the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-North (SPLM-N), a faction allied with the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The group called for an immediate halt to attacks on residential areas and urged international organisations to document alleged violations and hold those responsible accountable. The SPLM-N did not immediately respond to the allegations.
As Sudan’s war continues to endanger civilians, the latest deaths underscore the urgent need for stronger civilian protection, safe humanitarian access and renewed efforts to reduce violence.
Families in conflict-affected communities face growing risks as fighting disrupts access to healthcare, food and essential services. International attention and coordinated humanitarian support remain critical to preventing further casualties and helping vulnerable residents survive the escalating crisis.
