Tuesday, October 13, 2026 - Actor and disability rights advocate RJ Mitte, best known for playing Walter “Flynn” White Jr. in Breaking Bad, has died aged 34, according to TMZ. The outlet reported that a county official confirmed Mitte died in Texas on Monday, October 12. TMZ said it was told he died by suicide, while law enforcement said the death investigation remained ongoing.
“It is with profound sadness we share the tragic passing of
beloved actor, philanthropist, and passionate disability rights advocate RJ
Mitte,” his representatives said in a statement to TMZ. Mitte, who lived with
cerebral palsy, appeared in 56 episodes of the acclaimed AMC series.
“Drawing from his own experience living with cerebral palsy,
Mitte brought authenticity to the role and built a platform on disability
awareness and inclusion,” his representatives said. “Beyond entertaining
friends and family around the world, he served as an ambassador for United
Cerebral Palsy and Shriners Children’s.” His other screen credits included The
Oak Room, The Recall and The Guardians of Justice (Will Save You!).
Mitte appeared on The Joe Vulpis Podcast last week,
discussing how Breaking Bad changed his life and the close relationships he
maintained with fellow cast members after the series ended. Earlier this month,
he also appeared in social media posts with former co-star Luis Moncada. Away from
acting, Mitte campaigned for greater representation of people with
disabilities in Hollywood and supported charitable initiatives.
“He also served as president of The Mitte Foundation,
supporting philanthropic efforts and community initiatives, while using his
platform to challenge stereotypes and promote greater representation for people
with disabilities,” his representatives said. “At this time, we ask people to
respect the privacy of RJ Mitte’s family and close ones.” Mitte was engaged to
Kennedy Suarez, having proposed in 2025 after several years together.
