Yemeni army targets Houthi ammunition depot, gathering in southwestern Yemen

Friday, August 28, 2026 - Yemeni government forces have carried out a drone strike against a Houthi ammunition depot and gathering in Al-Dhale province, southwestern Yemen, according to the state-run Saba news agency.
The strike reportedly hit a Houthi position near the southern entrance of Damt, marking another direct military operation against Houthi assets as fighting intensifies across several Yemeni fronts.
The latest operation comes amid a sharp increase in military activity. Yemeni forces have recently reported strikes on Houthi vehicles, patrols, command positions and troop concentrations in Taiz and other areas, while the Houthis have also launched attacks against government and Saudi-linked positions.
The renewed exchanges are raising concerns that violence could spread across additional fronts and further threaten civilians and critical infrastructure.
The situation demands close attention as both sides continue expanding their military operations. Any sustained escalation could place additional pressure on already vulnerable communities and disrupt movement, trade and humanitarian access.
With fresh strikes being reported almost weekly, the immediate priority is preventing the fighting from widening while protecting civilians and maintaining access to essential supplies.
