Saturday, February 8, 2025 - Amani National Congress (ANC) officials have assured supporters that Musalia Mudavadi’s political future remains secure despite the party's merger with the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).
Speaking at a delegates’ meeting at Bomas of Kenya, ANC
Deputy Party Leader and Lamu Governor, Issa Timamy, emphasized that the merger
was a calculated move aimed at strengthening their position ahead of the 2027
elections.
The party will not field a presidential candidate but will
throw its weight behind Ruto’s re-election bid.
“Our eyes are on 2032. This decision ensures Mudavadi remains
politically relevant while avoiding unnecessary battles in 2027,” Timamy said.
Outgoing ANC Chair Kelvin Lunani lauded the merger, urging
delegates to rally behind Ruto.
“When we join hands, we become stronger. This alliance will
form government in 2027 and beyond,” he said.
With ANC folding into UDA, the political landscape is
shifting, and Ruto is banking on this merger to secure a second term amid
mounting opposition.
