 – The Cooperative Governance department in KwaZulu Natal has confirmed that all beaches in the north of eThekwini and some in the southern region are closed due to inclement weather destruction.

The Department’s Spokesperson, Siboniso Mngadi, says this is a precautionary measure put in place by the municipality.

Durban has so far recorded over 250 homes with more than a thousand people affected by the torrential rains at the weekend so far.

Mngadi says only Umgababa Beach is open in the southern region and COGTA department has made a call to relevant departments such as Home Affairs for further assistance.
